ABOUT BIGBY STREET DENTAL PRACTICE
At Bigby Street Dental Practice, our dentists, therapist, dental nurses and clerical staff will always aim to provide a high standard of care and services for our patients. It is a six surgery practice, each surgery has air conditioning, and the practice is fully computerised with internet access. We have digital intra-oral and panoral x-ray units, as well as decontamination rooms with vacuum autoclaves and washer/disinfector.
The practice was established in 1925 as a family dental practice and has been taken over by the current principal owner in March 2021. It has disabled access and disabled toilet facilities. The practice does not have on site parking but there are several car parks within walking distance. All types of restorative/cosmetic treatments are carried out apart from orthodontic.

It is important to understand the scope of what a dental therapist can and cannot do.
A Dental Therapist can:
-
Carry out a clinical examination within their competence
-
Diagnose tooth decay and gum disease
-
Provide treatments such as fillings and teeth cleaning
-
Take xrays to help with their diagnosis.
Dental Therapist cannot:
Provide complex or advanced treatments such as Root Treatments, Crowns and Dentures
During your appointment with our Dental therapist should any treatments be identified that are outside of the Dental Therapists scope of practice you will be referred to a dentist.
This is because the Dental Therapist is acting in your best interest and must refer you to the appropriate clinician to complete your treatment.
For more information see the GCD Scope of Practice guidance which can be found on the GDC website www.gdcuk.org
